NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH/POLICE UPDATE:
Diesel theft is still occurring.  Please remember to get registration numbers of suspicious vehicles and report them to the Police on 101. The Police have had reports of laser pens being shone into the air. Laser Pens are classed as an offensive weapon and they can interfere with aircraft. This is a 999 call to the police so they can immediately deal with the offenders.
Sparsholt Street Party:
We are planning to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a street party and BBQ starting at midday on Saturday, 2nd June.   There will be a bouncy castle and sporting activities on the school playing field for the children, with candy floss, soft drinks, ice cream and sweets available.   A beer and wine tent will be provided and we would welcome suggestions from village teenagers as to how they could contribute and be involved.
The dress theme will be red, white and blue with a prize for the best outfit.   All cooks are invited to enter a cake competition and local musicians to get together, bring their instruments and entertain us all.   We are also looking for a live band and a DJ. Tickets will be priced at £2 and can be obtained from the village shop.
Another celebration will take place on 4th June.   At about 10.00 p.m. on the football pitch, next to The Plough, we shall be lighting a Beacon.
Please put both dates in your diary now. If you would like to know more or let us have any ideas, please contact David Parker, Chairman of the Organising Committee on 776643 or Caroline Horrill on 776844.

ESTATE IMPROVEMENT PLAN
Following on from the success of the Estate Improvement Programme over the last 2 years, Winchester City Council are now inviting proposals for new schemes, to be considered for funding in the 2012/13 financial year.
They have so far provided some real improvements across the District, including the installation of door entry systems, fencing, plants and shrubbery, improvements to parking facilities, to name just a few.
The funding should primarily benefit WCC tenants.  As with previous years, priority will be given to applications that address community issues such as, Community safety – for example, lighting, door entry systems. Car parking & Environmental – for example, bin areas, fencing, landscaping
If anyone has anything they would like to be considered, please contact Caroline Horrill on the above telephone number.
FASTER BROADBAND:
Hampshire County Council and its partners are progressing their plans with Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) to access government funding for faster broadband in those parts of Hampshire that have poor internet access. Communities in Hampshire are encouraged to continue registering their support, as those areas that register strong demand for faster broadband are likely to be included in the earlier stages of the phased rollout programme. See the attached link to register: http://www3.hants.gov.uk/digitalhampshire/broadband/broadband-signup.htm
Please do register now, faster broadband is important to the whole community.
